The FERAL Crew

We’re a quirky group of knuckleheads, outdoor gear junkies, and story tellers. We’re adventure ready at all times and cherish our, sometimes, ridiculous work environment. Most importantly, however, we fiercely believe in connecting people with wild places. An adventure with the right people in the right place can be life-changing.

Jimmy Funkhouser, thrilled in Hanoi, gives two thumbs up. His black jacket contrasts with mustard pants against a busy street backdrop.

Jimmy Funkhouser

Founder & Chief Knucklehead | I started FERAL in 2016 after a long leadership career at Toys R Us. I was disenchanted by the corporate environment and how it stifled risk-taking and creativity. In many ways, FERAL became my protest against that type of work environment.

Rachel Cuccaro smiles alongside her dog at an outdoor cafe, evoking a cheerful, outdoorsy lifestyle.

Rachel Cuccaro

Co-Owner & Buyer | Originally hailing from the Nutmeg State (yes, that’s Connecticut’s actual nickname), I eventually migrated south to the Carolinas, where I fell in love with the outdoors while at Appalachian State University.

Charlie McQuiston

Denver Store Manager | Howdy do! I moved to Colorado a little over five years ago with my wife, Angel, and our Shih-Tzu named Buddy. Having never lived anywhere outside of the Memphis, Tennessee area, Colorado has allowed me to get out there more than I could have ever dreamed.

Carey smiles in front of the Grand Canyon, her black beanie hinting at a cool, adventurous day.

Carey Antoszewski

Denver Assistant Manager | Hey there! I’m Carey—a Maryland native who spent 13 years in Phoenix before calling Denver home. I’m an adventure enthusiast, indoor rock climber, hiker, biker, camper, ice hockey fan, and Disneyland buff.

Josiah Cilladi

Software Developer | Watching landscapes pass me by as geography changes from plains to mountains and desert to sea is where I like to be. On the trail just past Erwin or down that dusty road outside Pie Town, my favorite place is 3/8ths into an adventure with nothing but time and tread in front of me!

A smiling Whitney paddles a yellow canoe on calm water, surrounded by autumn foliage, exuding peaceful adventure.

Whitney Schuettpelz

Designer | I am a mom to a super cool six-year-old and married to my best friend. After eight years in sunny Colorado, we moved to the Land of 10,000 Lakes to be closer to family. Adventure looks a little different these days but I’d argue we’re still having the best time.

Jordan Haven, relaxed in a folding chair in the snow, points directly at the viewer, creating an engaging and personal connection.

Jordan Haven

Denver Supervisor | Hey! I’m Jordan. I’ll start off by saying — I’m sorry — I’m a California kid. But other than that, I’m pretty chill. While working at FERAL, I’m also working on my master’s in Nonprofit Management. My end goal with this whole thing is to get people outdoors who don’t necessarily realize it’s an option.

Lee Godwin

Denver Supervisor | I grew up in Decatur, Alabama where I got involved in rock climbing and found my obsession with outdoor gear. After college, I got married and traveled around the states with my wife, Christy, and pup, Roo, in a Sprinter van that we built out.

Enthusiastic Liz Lane gives two thumbs up on a sun-dappled trail, her backpacking pack promising adventure.

Liz Lane

Grand Rapids Supervisor | Hi! I’m Liz, a west-Michigan lifer. I was born and raised in Kalamazoo but moved to Grand Rapids in 2017. I showed up to my interview with Jimmy in an inflatable tube man suit and the rest was history.

Lowry Miller

Full time Used Gear Team Member | Hi I’m Lowry Miller! I grew up in rural New York working with horses and cows. Colorado has been my home for six years and has given me wonderful and challenging experiences with family and friends through hiking, climbing, running and skiing.

Brian Wolski

Full Time Inventory Specialist | I grew up in West Michigan, but have spent the last decade in Denver, exploring Colorado’s mountains any chance I get. I love to go hiking and backpacking with my wife Annie and our two dogs!

Shop Handyman & Rachel's Dad | I live in North Carolina with my wife, Helen, and our cat, Dallas— but I can be in Michigan or Colorado on a moment’s notice. I help out wherever I’m needed: patching walls, building fixtures, and helping execute the latest idea Jimmy and the team have cooked up.
