About FERAL

FERAL is an outdoor retailer built around one pretty simple idea: Most outdoor gear deserves a second life.

We sell new and used outdoor clothing and gear for people who actually go outside. Backpackers, climbers, skiers, trail runners, dirtbags, weekend warriors, river rats, and people who somehow own six puffies already but still need another one.

We’re not a polished corporate outdoor brand pretending to be “authentic", but we are very tech-forward. We develop and deploy innovative tech at a velocity that larger companies in our industry only dream of.

We’re building something more community-driven, scrappy, weird, and real.

We care about:

  • sustainability without sounding like a TED Talk
  • community over corporate nonsense
  • good storytelling
  • creative marketing that doesn’t feel like marketing
  • building a brand people actually want to hang around

About the Role

We’re hiring a Brand Marketing Manager to help run and grow the FERAL attention machine. This is not a “sit in a room making Canva graphics” job.

You will find the little hidden narratives. You know the difference between content and craft. You know how to use modern tools to do something people have done around the campfire for thousands of years. You'd rather find the charming story behind a beat-up tent than retread another TikTok trend.

This is:

  • organizing chaos
  • launching ideas quickly
  • leveraging technology to turn ideas into deliverables swiftly and with quality
  • building community
  • coordinating content
  • managing campaigns
  • planning events
  • wrangling creators
  • keeping momentum alive
  • making sure things actually happen

You’ll help own:

  • social media
  • email marketing
  • community partnerships
  • local events
  • influencer outreach
  • campaign execution
  • content coordination
  • growth initiatives
  • organic and paid SEO

Some days you’ll be planning a campaign calendar.

Other days you’ll be filming a trail run, coordinating an event, emailing creators, setting up a giveaway, or figuring out why Instagram decided to destroy engagement again.

What You’ll Do

Build Community

  • Develop partnerships with local outdoor groups, gyms, clubs, nonprofits, and creators
  • Help make FERAL feel like part of the local outdoor scene, not just another store
  • Plan and execute events people actually want to attend
  • Find creative ways to get the brand in front of people without lighting money on fire
  • Quarterly travel to Denver is required

Run Marketing Campaigns

  • Own and manage the marketing calendar
  • Coordinate campaigns across social, email, retail, events, and partnerships
  • Keep launches and promotions organized and moving
  • Help maintain FERAL’s voice across channels
  • You will operate in the following channels: Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Organic Search, Paid Search, and Email (and wherever else attention shifts in the future).

Coordinate Content

  • Work with creators, photographers, videographers, and community members
  • Help turn raw content into finished posts and campaigns
  • Source customer stories and user-generated content
  • Manage influencer and micro-influencer relationships

Keep Things Moving

  • Organize projects and workflows
  • Coordinate freelancers and outside partners
  • Track results and figure out what’s working
  • Solve problems before they become problems

You Might Be a Fit If You:

  • are extremely organized without acting like a corporate robot
  • are an excellent writer and storyteller
  • can manage a lot of moving parts at once
  • understand internet culture and modern content
  • move quickly and figure things out without constant direction
  • have strong communication skills
  • genuinely enjoy building community
  • can balance creativity with execution
  • know the difference between “good engagement” and pointless social media fluff

Bonus points if you:

  • spend time outside voluntarily
  • have experience with retail or lifestyle brands
  • have run events or partnerships before
  • understand creator/influencer culture
  • know your way around Shopify, Klaviyo, Canva, Sprout Social, etc.
  • can recognize a Patagonia Houdini from 50 feet away

What Success Looks Like

  • FERAL becomes more embedded in the local outdoor community
  • Marketing becomes more consistent and organized
  • More quality content gets published regularly
  • Events actually drive traffic and engagement
  • Good ideas stop dying in group chats
  • The brand grows without feeling corporate and inauthentic

Compensation

  • $55,000–$65,000 depending on experience
  • Health care eligibility
  • Employee discount
  • Paid time off
  • Flexible and collaborative work environment
  • Opportunities for growth within the company
