Originally hailing from the Nutmeg State (yes, that’s Connecticut’s actual nickname), I eventually migrated south to the Carolinas, where I fell in love with the outdoors while at Appalachian State University. From there, I followed the classic “move west for bigger mountains” storyline and landed in Colorado, where I spent my time backpacking to alpine lakes, fly fishing tiny creeks, and biking to every brewery and pizza spot in Denver.
These days, you can find me in Michigan with my husband and our adventure pup, Ace, getting to know the Great Lakes, pretending I understand Midwestern winters, and eating my weight in cherries.
Best used gear find?
I met my husband at FERAL somewhere between the used tents and sleeping pads… so I’d say that’s my best secondhand score. A close second is a bright yellow, vintage Primus two-burner stove from the ‘60s.
Favorite local spot?
Saugatuck Dunes State Park with our pup. Nothing beats a good beach day (even in Michigan, where I’m still wrapping my head around the idea of looking at a body of water that looks like the ocean but isn't).
When was the last time you did something for the first time?
I recently took up cross-country skiing! I wouldn’t say I’m good at it, but it’s a lot fun.
