Time to get nerdy! For our April installment of the Outdoor Nerds Unite Speaker Series, we welcome Professor Timothy Seastedt from CU Boulder.

This series takes an academic look at adventure and environmental related themes. FERAL is bringing together thought leaders from a myriad of fields, and outdoor junkies for experimental conversations on varying topics. Each month we will bring in a different speaker to share their expertise with the outdoor community.
April’s topic is “Adventures in the Changing Ecology of the Front Range”. The lecture will cover the combination of natural and human-induced changes in Front Range ecosystems and what that means in terms of what outdoor enthusiasts can expect to find now and in the coming years.
You can expect a 60-minute lecture style presentation immediately followed by a Q&A.
Timothy Seastedt is a Professor at CU Boulder. His research focuses on terrestrial ecosystem studies, including factors influencing biodiversity, productivity, soil carbon dynamics, decomposition, and mineralization processes, and how these processes affect short and long-term ecosystem-atmosphere interactions. Most recently his research has involved studies of invasive plant species and invasibility of ecosystems within the context of other components of global change.
