Wait, FERAL is moving?
Yes, but not yet… and not far. We plan to be in our current location through the remainder of 2018 before moving to another location on Tennyson Street. Come visit us!
The building will eventually be scraped for a development project, so come see us at the original FERAL before it’s too late! Our ability to make this move is largely predicated on the amazing support that we get from our community, so please don’t wait until we’re in our new building to make your next (or first) visit to FERAL.
What does all of this mean for FERAL?
We feel very strongly that Denver deserves to have a world-class locally-owned outdoor gear shop, and we’re working to build exactly that. Colorado has always supported local, and Denver’s outdoor community should have a place to call it’s own.
We’re taking all of the components that have always made FERAL special and putting them in a space that allows us to carry everything that you need for your Colorado adventure.
FERAL isn’t changing because the people aren’t changing. We’ll always be scrappy, sassy and trying to push the boundaries further and further. Jimmy is too weird to have a normal shop.
Tell us about the new building!
We’re excited to share! We’re moving into the historic Flesher Hinton building, the crown jewel of the Berkeley neighborhood. It is located at 3936 Tennyson Street, next to Whit’s Custard and Royal Burger. We’ll be expanding from 1,000 sq ft. to almost 4,800 sq. ft. That means more apparel, more gear and more FERAL tomfoolery.
The building was most recently the Flesher Hinton music store, but was a theater at one point as well. It’s beautiful and oozing with history. Exposed brick walls, tall ceilings… we can’t wait to share the space with you! We’re in the design process as we speak, and we think you’re going to love what we have in store for you.
What about the iconic Flesher Hinton sign?
If you know the building, you know that it is currently home to the most iconic sign on Tennyson Street. Long story short, we’re doing everything that we can to come up with the funds to restore the sign with our branding, and bring the sign back to life. We would maintain the shape, color, and traditional neon aesthetic. Tennyson St. deserves to see that light shine again, and we’re exploring all options to making that happen. Got any ideas? Make no mistake about it, this is a rare thing. Small neighborhood retailers aren’t growing these days. It’s tough to be the small guy. Our community is our rock, and we’re doing everything that we can to stay true to the FERAL identify that you’ve fallen in love with while building the outdoor shop you deserve. Berkeley is home today, and we want it to be home for decades to come.
